In Hindi, the so-called iterative constructions are used to make “habitual” commands.
Notice the difference between the following two sentences:
अपने कुत्ते को हर दिन बाहर लेके जाया करो – “Take your dog outside every day”
अपने कुत्ते को बाहर लेके जाओ – “Take your dog outside”
The former is a command to do something regularly. The latter is a command to do something one time.
Consider another example:
कभी हंस भी लिया करो – “Laugh from time to time!”
