In Hindi, a subjunctive verb can be used to specify a first person singular exhortation. In other words, this is like the English expressions “let me remind you”, or “may I remind you”, “I must tell you”, etc. In Hindi, the first person singular non-aspectual subjunctive verb form is used (e.g. करूं, दूं).
मैं तुम्हें याद दिला दूं कि जब तुम छोटे थे तब कैसे व्यव्हार करते थे – “Let me remind you how you used to act when you were young!”
मैं बताता चलूं कि आप इस परियोजना में कैसे भाग ले सकते हैं – “Let me conclude by telling you how you can participate in this project” [literally: “Let me go, (while) telling you …”
सबसे पहले मैं आपको बता दूं कि आज की चर्चा का विषय क्या है – “First of all, let me tell you what the topic of today’s discussion is”
