फ़ायदा

The Hindi noun फ़ायदा means “advantage”, “profit”, etc.

The “Point” of Something

It can be used to express what is commonly called “the point” of something in English.

जिद्दी लोगों के साथ बहस करने का कोई फ़ायदा नहीं होता – “There’s no point in arguing with stubborn people”

ऐसी चीज़ें खरीदने का क्या फ़ायदा है जो मुफ्त में मिलती हैं – “What’s the use of buying the things that you get for free?”

Taking Advantage of Something

The conjunct verb फ़ायदा उठाना means “to take advantage of”.

तुम्हें इस मौके का फ़ायदा उठाना चाहिए – “You should take advantage of this opportunity”

उसने मेरी नासमझी का फ़ायदा उठाया – “He exploited my ignorance”
